A local landowner has recently acquired an area of land which, if the local planners at Selby District Council approve, will provide up to 31 local residents the opportunity to design and create their own homes through custom and self build.
The market town of Hemingbrough, famous for the tallest church spire in Europe, may play host to Yorkshire's largest custom build housing development to date. Custom Build Solutions has recently been instructed to compile a comprehensive assessment of demand to support the outline planning application, which will be submitted on the 9th of May 2019. If successful, it will trigger a new development of up to 31 serviced plots which are to be sold with outline planning permission to people who wish to either self build or commission their own homes.
To ensure a collective cohesion is maintained across the site, it is proposed at this stage that buyers will be able to appoint their own design and homebuilding team. However all new homes must comply with a design code and a plot passport, as is customary across many schemes in the UK and standard practice across mainland Europe.
Custom Build Homes is not currently taking expressions of interest from prospective buyers, however we hope to share a positive outcome from the planning process in the coming weeks.
