Outline Planning Permission Secured

A collection of up to 20 custom homes have
Custom Build Homes has secured planning permission for Carlisle’s first custom build housing community, just east of Carlisle city centre.

The site which currently comprises the garden and adjoining field of Cardunneth, a large vacant house on the eastern edge of the village of Corby Hill, will soon be developed into an exciting new bespoke housing community dedicated exclusively to custom build housing.

Each custom home will be built on a fully serviced building plot which will be sold to future homeowners to commission the construction of their home from appointed builders. The project is considered unique to the local area and is set to become an exemplar for wider Carlisle and Cumberland, addressing the unmet and rising demand for self and custom build housing locally.

The site now benefits from Outline Planning Permission which was granted by Cumberland Council’s Planning Committee on 17 July with majority support from Elected Members.

Custom Build Homes thanks the officers at Cumberland Council for their positive and consistent engagement, which brought this innovative application to a timely determination.

The Custom Build Homes development team was again ably supported by its in-house planning and design team who worked closely with our retained planning consultants, Tetlow King Planning, who presented a strong benefits and demand-led planning case to the Council supported by a range of other consultants. Our market leading demand data also again provided a strong platform to influence the scheme design and planning case.

Although the plans remain illustrative and are subject to finalising a legal agreement with the Council, Custom Build Homes will now work closely with its landowner clients to bring forward detailed plans in discussion with the local community for final Council approval. The site will then be prepared to create up to 20 fully serviced building plots for private sale and development.
